The “Bird of Prey Nests for protection 2026” dataset contains selected and curated nest data for birds of prey and owl species from Luomus’ bird monitoring systems. The dataset brings together information from the ringing register and nest reports, providing nest‑level summary data instead of the original observation records.

The dataset includes the nest location, species, number of breedings, and, when available, the ring or nest identifier. For most nests, the tree species used for nesting is also recorded. The dataset partially overlaps with other nest datasets maintained by the Luomus Ringing Centre and may contain some inaccuracies, for example in coordinates.

A new compilation is published annually. The latest compilation contains breeding data from 2019–2025, sea eagle 2016–2025

The dataset covers nests of 11 bird of prey species. The observations are sensitive, and their accuracy has been generalized in the Laji.fi portal, but detailed information is available to authorities and via a data request. The dataset provides consolidated and verified information on the nesting sites of bird of prey species of conservation significance across Finland.
